Jiwan Travels

Braham Buta Market is right by the Golden Temple, so you can imagine how many people walk past our door every single day. Jiwan Travels is tucked away in this busy market. It’s in the 143006 area of Amritsar. Working so close to the temple is a bit of a blessing, but it’s also very loud and crowded. We’ve been here for years, watching the pilgrims come and go. Our office isn't much to look at, just a desk and some chairs and a lot of maps and papers. We spend most of our time helping people figure out their next move, whether it’s a taxi to the airport or a bus ticket to another state. The mornings are the best time here, before it gets too hot and the crowds get too thick. You can hear the prayers from the temple if you listen closely. It’s a very specific kind of place to work. Sometimes the traffic is so bad that our drivers struggle to get close to the market, so we have to walk a bit to meet them. It’s just part of the daily grind. We don't use any fancy marketing. People just find us because we are right there in the market. It’s a honest way to make a living and we've met so many interesting people over the years. We just keep the records in our books and do the work.
