Harman Boutique & Beauty Point

Our shop is number 16 in the main market of New Amritsar. We do two different things here, stitching clothes and doing parlour work. It's a small space for both but we make it work somehow. On one side we have the sewing machines and rolls of colorful fabric. On the other side we have the mirrors and the styling chairs. It gets very busy during the wedding season because ladies want their suits stitched and their hair done at the same place. It saves them time and travel. The market is always loud with people shopping for food and clothes. We have a small fan that sits on the floor to keep our feet cool. The walls are covered in pictures of different suit designs we've made over the years. We don't have a computer or any digital system, we just write everything down in a big ledger book. The floor is concrete and we sweep it several times a day to get rid of the thread and the hair. Sometimes the neighborhood kids come in to buy scraps of cloth for their projects. We’ve been in this market for a long time. People know they can find us at Shop 16. It’s not a shiny or new place, but it’s where we work every day from morning until late evening. We just do the jobs as they come in and go home.
