Gurmail General Store

Being right across from Preet Hospital means we see a lot of people coming and going at all hours. Our shop is number 33A, and it’s a pretty simple setup. We keep a bit of everything here because you never know what someone might need in a hurry. One minute it is a bottle of water, the next someone is asking for a packet of biscuits or a new comb. It gets a bit crowded in the afternoons when the sun hits the front of the shop. I usually sit near the door to catch whatever breeze there is. We’ve got stacks of notebooks, different soaps, and plastic buckets hanging from the ceiling to save some floor space. Amritsar gets dusty, so we are always wiping down the jars and packets. The shelves are a bit mismatched, some are metal and some are old wood we painted years back. It’s not the biggest place on the street, but we make it work. Most of the regulars are families living nearby or staff from the hospital taking a quick break. We don't really do much advertising, just keep the door open and wait for whoever needs something. Sometimes the tea stall next door brings over a cup and we sit for five minutes when it’s quiet. That is about it for our little general store. We just try to keep the basics available for whoever walks through the door in this part of town.
