Dua General Store

Dua General Store is over on Majitha Road in Amritsar. We are near another departmental store, so there is always a bit of a struggle to make sure we have what the other guy doesn't. My shop is not very large, but I make sure it is packed with the essentials. I grew up around here, so I know the 143001 area like the back of my hand. The winters are cold and the summers are dusty, and the shop sees it all. I have these old wooden shelves that have been here since I started. They are a bit wobbly now, but they hold the weight of the tins and bottles well enough. I handle the money, the stocking, and the cleaning mostly by myself. Sometimes a neighbor stops by just to sit for a minute and complain about the heat. I sell a lot of small items, things people realize they forgot at the bigger markets. Needles, thread, hair oil, or maybe just a single packet of biscuits. It is those little things that keep the lights on. I do not have a fancy sign or anything, just the name above the door. Most days go by in a blur of counting change and restocking the front bins. It is just honest work. I don't try to be anything I am not. Just a man with a shop on a busy road trying to get through the day and serve the folks nearby.
