Bhatia General Store

Bhatia General Store is located in Gali No-1 in Pawan Nagar, right in the Main Bazar area of Amritsar. We are quite close to Celebration Mall, but our shop is much smaller and a lot quieter than that big building. We’ve been part of this street for years and years. I remember when there weren't so many cars or bikes around here. Nowadays, it’s always busy with people heading toward the mall or the main market. We sell mostly daily essentials like spices, tea leaves, sugar, and local snacks. My son helps me manage the inventory on his days off from his other job. We usually have a small radio playing in the background, mostly old songs or the local news. People stop by to pick up stuff they missed during their big shopping trip in the city. It’s a small space, so things are a bit cramped, but we know exactly where everything is kept on the shelves. If someone asks for a specific brand of biscuits or a certain soap, I can usually find it in a second without even looking. We don't have fancy displays or air conditioning to keep the place cool. It’s just a regular shop with old wooden shelves and a stone floor. The floor needs a sweep every few hours because of the dirt from the street. We just want to make sure the locals have a place to get their salt and sugar without having to walk too far.
