We are over at Shop Number 30 in the Braham Buta Market. It’s very close to the Golden Temple, so the area is always full of pilgrims and tourists. Our shop is packed with all sorts of things, from small trinkets to bigger items you might give someone for a birthday or a wedding. It’s a bit of a squeeze inside because we try to fit a lot on the shelves. Sometimes things get a little dusty, but we try our best to keep it tidy. We’ve been in this market for years. Most of our customers are locals who need a quick gift or visitors looking for something to take home after their visit to the temple. We don't have a fancy website or a catalog; you just have to come in and see what’s on the shelves that day. We pick out stuff we think people will like, mostly simple things that don't cost too much. It’s a family-run kind of thing. My cousin helps out on weekends when the market gets really packed. We like the energy of being near the temple. It’s noisy and busy, but that’s just how life is here in the heart of the city. We just open the shutters in the morning and wait to see who walks in. There is no big strategy here, just selling things that make people smile a bit when they're looking for a small present or souvenir.
