Ahuja Travels

You will find us at Ahuja Travels tucked away in Bazar Atta Mandi, which is right behind the Golden Temple. Because we are so close to the temple, the lanes are always full of pilgrims and visitors. It is a very special part of Amritsar to work in, though it can get very crowded on weekends and festivals. We have been in this spot for quite a while now. We mostly help people with their travel needs once they have finished their prayers or if they are planning to head out to other shrines. The shop is small and usually smells like the food from the nearby stalls. We spend a lot of time giving directions as much as we do booking tickets. It is just part of being in this area. We aren't a fancy travel agency with a lot of glossy brochures. Instead, we have local knowledge and a desk that has seen a lot of use. People find us by word of mouth or just by wandering through the bazaar. We try to keep things simple and honest. If a train is late or a road is closed, we tell people straight. Working so close to the temple keeps us grounded. It is a busy life, but we like the energy of the bazaar and helping travelers find their way. We usually start early in the morning because that is when the bazaar wakes up and the first groups of people start looking for rides to the station.
