Abhishek Karyana Store

Out in the Islamabad area of Amritsar, you will find our small karyana store. We are situated quite close to the Noore Shah Peer landmark, which makes it easy for folks to find us. This place has been part of the neighborhood for a long time. Mostly, we deal in all the basic kitchen essentials like pulses, flour, various spices, and tea. People around here know us by name and they just walk in to ask for what they need for dinner. There are no fancy displays or anything like that in here. The jars are just lined up on simple wooden shelves, and we weigh things out for the customers like it’s always been done. Amritsar can get pretty cold in the winter months, so we usually have a pot of hot tea going behind the counter. It’s just a simple, honest business. Supplies come in from the main market, and we try to keep our prices fair for the neighbors. Sometimes the local kids come in looking for a single piece of candy after their school lets out. It’s those small moments that make the long day go by faster. We’ve seen the neighborhood change quite a bit over the years, but the shop stays mostly the same. Our main goal is just making sure the locals have a place nearby to get their daily groceries without traveling too far into the city. Most people just call out their list.
