You can find us at Block A in Ambedkar Nagar, at Vinod Kumar’s place. We’ve been operating B R A Dalit Kisan Producer Company Limited from here for a while now. It’s a straightforward setup. We wanted to make sure that the Dalit farmers in this part of Ambedkar Nagar had a collective voice and a place to organize. We aren't doing anything complicated. Most of the day is spent talking to the kisan who come by with their concerns or their products. We don't have any fancy marketing or a big sign out front. It’s just us, sitting in the office area, trying to sort out the logistics of the agricultural trade. Sometimes we have to deal with a lot of red tape, which can be frustrating, but that’s just part of the process. We know the struggles of the small farmer because we live them every day. The work is physical and it depends entirely on what the land gives us each season. We don't make big promises. We just try to help each member get a fair deal when it’s time to take the harvest to market. It’s a busy place when the seasons change, and there’s always something that needs fixing or a person who needs a hand with their forms. We just take it one day at a time here in Block A.
