Zilla Parishad High School

Our high school is located in Sankar Vihar, which is in the Quarsi area of Aligarh. It is a Zilla Parishad school, so it is a basic government institution. The building is quite old and you can see where the plaster is peeling in a few spots. We have a number of classrooms that get very full during the day because we have a lot of students from the surrounding area. There is a central courtyard where we hold the morning assembly. It is usually quite dusty and noisy with all the kids around. We don't have any fancy science labs or computer rooms with new machines. We mostly use the blackboards and the books that the government provides. The teachers have to manage large groups of students, which can be a lot of work. We don't have any air conditioning, so the rooms can get very warm during the summer months. There are no marketing people here trying to sell the school to anyone. We are just here to provide an education to the kids in this part of Aligarh. People know us because we have been a part of the Quarsi community for a long time. It is a no-frills environment where the focus is just on the daily lessons and making sure the students are learning something. We deal with the usual problems like not enough desks or broken fans, but we make it work anyway. The gates open at the same time every morning and we just get to work.
