Shri Vijay Charan Inter College

Out here in Vill-Bhaura Gaurava, things are quite quiet compared to what you find in the main city of Aligarh. Our college is tucked away near the Chandfari post office in the Iglas area. It is a bit of a walk for some of the kids who come from the surrounding farm fields every morning. The building has been standing here for a good bit of time, and you can see that in the walls, but it holds up well against the weather. We spend a lot of our time just making sure the classrooms are swept and ready every single morning. It is mostly the local families from the village who send their children here to study. We don't have those big city buses or any of that fancy transport. People mostly walk or ride their old cycles to get here. The main office is small and cramped, and there is usually someone sitting there drinking tea while sorting through old folders. We have a playground that gets used for everything from cricket to the morning assemblies. It is very dusty in the summer and it gets a bit muddy when the rains come, but the kids don't seem to mind much at all. We don't have air conditioning, just the old ceiling fans that hum and rattle all day long. Everyone knows everyone else around here. It is just a small place. We focus on getting through the syllabus and helping the kids pass.
