Sb Public School is over in Shyam Bihar Colony, which is just off the Agra Road in Etah. It’s a local school that serves the families living in that part of town. The colony is a fairly quiet residential spot, which is nice for a school because there isn’t too much noise from the main road, even though we are quite close to it. The school building is straightforward, with two floors and a small courtyard in the middle. We see a lot of kids from the nearby houses every morning, and they usually come on foot or on their bicycles. The playground is just a patch of ground where they play during their breaks, and it gets pretty dusty when the wind picks up. We try to keep things organized, but with a couple hundred kids running around, it’s always a little messy. The teachers are mostly local people too, so everyone knows each other’s business. We have our daily routine of prayers and then classes until the afternoon. It’s a simple life here in Etah. We don’t have any high-tech equipment, just the regular old-fashioned way of teaching with books and notebooks. Sometimes the water pump acts up or we have to fix a window, but that’s just part of managing a building like this. We are just a regular school in a regular neighborhood, trying to do our part for the local kids.
