Tameer-E-Millat Islamia Hr. Sec. School

Dodhpur is a very busy part of Aligarh, and Tameer-E-Millat Islamia Hr. Sec. School is right in the heart of it. You can hear the sounds of the local market and the traffic from the classrooms almost all day long. Since we are a higher secondary school, we have the older kids who always seem to be in a hurry to get somewhere. The building is tucked away in the narrow streets of Dodhpur. It has that lived-in feel, with some cracks in the wall plaster and notice boards that have been there for years. We don't have a giant lawn or a big park, but there’s enough room in the courtyard for the kids to hang out between their classes. The teachers use the same old wooden desks they’ve had for a decade. We spend a lot of our time talking to the local shopkeepers and the parents who stop by. Aligarh is a city that really cares about education, and we are just one small part of that tradition. It’s not a polished corporate office by any means; it’s a school with noisy hallways and dusty chalkboards. Sometimes the electricity goes out and we just have to open the windows wide and keep on going with the lesson. We don't use much fancy technology here. It’s mostly just books and a lot of talking. We see the kids grow up from year to year. It’s honest work and it keeps us busy from morning till night.
