Candid Exports

You can find us over at 9 Japan House on Marris Road. It’s a busy spot and finding a place to park is always a headache in the mornings. Our office is one of several in the building, so you have to walk down a long hallway to get to our door. Once you’re inside, it’s usually pretty quiet unless the phones are ringing. We’ve got shelves lining the walls filled with folders and old records. It’s not the most modern setup, but we know where everything is. Most of our work involves coordinating with suppliers and making sure the export documents are all in order. It’s a lot of back-and-forth emails. We usually have the radio playing in the background to keep things from feeling too dull. The windows look out onto the street, so we see everyone going about their business. Marris Road has a lot of energy, which is nice when you’re feeling tired in the afternoon. We take turns making coffee or going out to grab some snacks for the group. It’s a small team, and we’ve all worked together for a long time now. We don’t really do big meetings; we just shout across the room if we need to ask a question. The desk drawers are full of old pens that don't work and scraps of paper with notes on them. It’s a real working office, through and through, and we like it that way.
