Goverment College Ambalapuzha

This is a government college located in the Ambalapuzha area of Alappuzha, Kerala. Being near the coast, the air is often quite salty and damp, which means we have to paint the walls more often than we’d like. The college is a set of basic concrete buildings that serve the local students from the surrounding villages. We have a small administrative block where most of the paperwork happens, and it’s usually stacked high with files. The classrooms are simple, with big fans that hum constantly to keep the air moving. It’s a public space, so there’s a lot of foot traffic throughout the day. We have a small patch of ground where students play sports when it’s not raining, which isn’t often during the monsoon season. The vibe here is very relaxed; it’s not a high-pressure corporate environment at all. We just provide the space and the teachers for the students to get their degrees. Most people come here by the local buses, so there’s a big rush near the gates in the morning and afternoon. We don’t have fancy cafes or student lounges, just some basic benches and a lot of space to walk around. It’s a very practical, no-frills kind of place that does its job for the community. We just keep the doors open and the classes running as best as we can every single day.
