Maheshwari Food House

Maheshwari Food House is tucked away in Pushkar Chhoti Basti. If you’ve ever been to Pushkar, you know it’s a maze of small lanes and busy markets. Our place is simple and doesn’t have a big neon sign or anything like that. We just have a board outside with the name on it. We cook traditional food that we grew up eating ourselves. There isn't a team of professional chefs here; it’s just us in the kitchen. We get a lot of travelers who are looking for a simple meal that doesn't cost too much. The Chhoti Basti area is quite lively, and we spend a lot of time talking to the people who stop by. We don't have a set menu that stays the same all year. We cook what we can get from the local farmers. The kitchen is small and it can get a bit disorganized when we have a lot of orders at once, but we manage to get the food out eventually. We don't use any fancy cooking techniques, just the basic stuff we learned from our elders. The seating is a bit tight, but people don't seem to mind. We aren't trying to be a five-star place. We just want to provide a place where you can get a decent plate of food in Pushkar. It’s a humble operation and we like it that way. We spend most of our time between the stove and the sink and that is fine with us. We are just here every day.
