We have been running this small shop on Station Road for a good while now. It is a busy spot because of the trains and all the people walking back and forth all day. Our main thing is making and selling different kinds of sauces. The kitchen in the back is where most of the work happens. It gets really hot in there, especially when the burners are going and we are cooking down big pots of peppers and spices. You can usually smell the vinegar and the heat from the street. We do most of it ourselves, from cleaning the vegetables to filling up the bottles. Sometimes we don’t get the labels on perfectly straight, but that’s just how it is when you’re doing everything by hand. We keep the bottles on these wooden shelves we built ourselves. The floor is often a bit wet because we are constantly washing out the pots and the floors to keep things tidy. We get our ingredients from the local markets and sometimes things are late or don't look right, so we just wait for the next batch. It’s not a corporate office or anything like that. It is just a workspace with a counter out front. We spend a lot of time wiping dust off the glass because of all the traffic on Station Road. It’s just us here, working through the crates of produce and making sure the jars are ready for whoever stops by.
