Samruddhigreen Farmer Producer Company Limited

This whole thing is run from Ganesh Pandurang Wankhade’s place in Wadshingi. We are out in Jalgaon Jamod. It’s a farmer producer company, which means we are all in this together. We don’t have a big fancy building. We just use the space we have to coordinate the harvests and the distribution. Most of us have been farming since we were young kids. We decided to put our names together so we could have a bit more say in the market. The village is small, so everyone knows Samruddhigreen. We handle the seeds and sometimes the fertilizers for the members. It’s about making sure everyone gets what they need on time. Some days it’s just sitting on the porch talking about the market rates and the weather. Other days we are moving heavy sacks and loading trucks. It’s not a clean, polished business. There’s mud and dust everywhere because that’s the nature of the job. We don’t have a marketing team or anything like that. We just talk to people. If someone has a better way of doing things, we try it out. It’s a simple life but it’s always busy. We stay busy with the paperwork too, which is the boring part. But it’s necessary to keep the company legal. We’re just local people trying to make the most of our crops and stay afloat.
