Kamal Ice Products

Kamal Ice Products is situated in Phase-4 of the GIDC at Plot No. C-1/B-4417. Our business is pretty simple—we make ice. We have these large tanks and freezing systems that run all the time. The air inside the unit is always damp and a bit chilly, which is nice when the weather in Gujarat gets really hot. You’ll see big blocks of ice being slid across the floor onto trucks. We use hooks and chains to move them because they are too heavy and slippery to lift by hand. Most of our work happens at odd hours because the fish markets and juice shops need their ice early in the morning. So, someone is usually here at night making sure the freezing process is going right. We don't have a fancy showroom or anything like that. It’s just a functional space with a lot of pipes and insulation. The floor is almost always wet, so we have to wear rubber boots. We’ve been in Phase-4 for a while now and the location works well for the delivery trucks to get in and out. It’s not the most exciting job, but everyone needs ice, especially in the summer. We just focus on keeping the machines running and the water clean. It’s just us doing our thing at the GIDC unit every single day.
