Vanza Bandhani

Vanza Bandhani is based in the Shree Sun House Building, right across from the Telephone Exchange on C. G. Road. This is a very busy part of the city, and we are right in the thick of it every day. Our space is filled with a lot of fabric and different materials we use for our daily work. It’s not a polished showroom; it’s more of a workshop where things actually get done. We spend a lot of time looking at patterns and dealing with the small details of the Bandhani process. The lighting is okay, but we sometimes use extra lamps when the weather gets cloudy. C. G. Road always has a lot of traffic, so there’s a constant hum of cars and bikes outside our windows. Inside, it’s a bit more focused and quiet. We have long tables where we spread out the cloth to work on it. There are containers of dye and various threads scattered around the room. It’s a bit messy, but that’s just how it is when you’re working with textiles and dyes all day. We take our tea breaks when the work allows, usually sitting near the window to watch the people below. It’s a small group of us here, and we’ve gotten used to the layout of the Shree Sun House building over the years. Finding parking on C. G. Road can be a nightmare, but we’ve managed to live with it. We just keep our heads down and work.
