If you come to the Orchid Mall in Thaltej, you’ll find us on the second floor at units 15 and 16. It’s a bit of a weird spot for an engineering firm, being in a mall and all, but it works for us. The Thaltej-Shilaj Road is always packed with cars, especially in the evenings when everyone is heading home. Our office is usually full of drawings and some small metal parts we’re looking at. We spend most of our time on computers or talking to the guys at the sites. It’s Laxmi Engineering, but it feels more like a small workshop sometimes with all the clutter. The lift in the mall can be slow, so we often just take the stairs if we’re in a rush. We’ve got a couple of desks shoved together and a kettle that gets a lot of use. It gets quite bright in the afternoons when the sun hits the windows. We deal with a lot of technical stuff, mostly planning and making sure the parts fit where they’re supposed to. Sometimes we have to stay late to finish a design. It’s not like those shiny offices you see in magazines. We have piles of old catalogues and coffee mugs everywhere. The staff has been around for years, so we all know how each other works. Just a group of people doing engineering work in a busy part of Thaltej.
