Shri Gayatri Rice Mill

Our rice mill is out on Kim Road in the village of Olpad. It’s a quiet area compared to Surat, but the mill itself is quite noisy when the season is in full swing. We’ve been here for a long time, and the locals all know where we are. The smell of raw rice and husks is everywhere. When the trucks come in from the fields, the whole yard gets covered in golden dust. It’s a messy job, but it’s important work for the farmers around here. We spend a lot of time checking the moisture in the grains because that’s what really matters. My uncle started this mill, and now we all help out. The machinery is old but we take good care of it so it doesn't break down when we need it most. During the monsoon, the road can get a bit muddy and slow, which makes deliveries a headache. We don't have any fancy mission statements or corporate goals. We just want to process the rice properly so people have something good to eat. We sit on plastic chairs outside the office to talk to the farmers when they bring their crops. It’s a slow pace of life in the village, but the work is hard and it never really stops. We are just a local mill doing what we’ve always done for the community here in the Olpad district. It keeps us fed and busy.
