Our unit is over in the Vatva GIDC area, specifically in Phase IV. We are at Ashapura Industrial Estate, units 09, 19, and 20. Being in a place like Vatva means you’re always surrounded by other industries. It’s a busy, dusty place, but it’s where all the real work happens. We do industrial manufacturing stuff here. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings or bits of material from whatever we are working on that day. It’s not the kind of place where you’d wear a suit. We wear our work clothes and get our hands dirty. The fans hum all day to try and keep the heat down. We don’t have a fancy reception desk or a marketing team. If you call, you’ll probably just talk to one of us who’s actually working on the floor. We’ve got a lot of heavy machinery that takes up most of the space. Sometimes we have to move things around just to make room for a new order. It’s a lot of physical labor and paying attention to small details. We take our lunches together and talk about the work or whatever else is going on. It’s a simple life. We just want to make things that work and get them out the door on time. The GIDC has its own rhythm, and we’ve been part of it for quite a long time now. We see the same faces every day at the tea stall. It’s a community of workers. We just keep our heads down and get through the tasks we have in front of us.
