Our place, Ushanti Colour Chem, is located at Plot No. 88/8 in Phase-1 of the GIDC area in Vatva. Being in a chemical zone means there’s always a specific scent in the air, and it's quite busy with trucks coming and going. We have been here for a while, working with different colors and compounds. The floor is often stained with various shades, which I guess is expected in our line of work. It’s a big space but feels small once you fill it up with equipment and barrels. We don’t have a fancy corporate office; the administrative part is just a small room off to the side with a few old computers. Most of us are out on the floor for the better part of the day. It gets quite warm in the summer months, so we keep the fans running constantly. We have a small team, and everyone knows what their job is without being told too much. Sometimes the deliveries are late, or a machine needs a bit of extra attention to keep it running right. We just handle it as it comes. It’s not a glamorous job, but it’s what we do. The surroundings are very industrial, with grey walls and metal roofs everywhere you look. We try to keep things organized, though it’s a constant battle against the clutter of a working plant. We mostly just keep our heads down and get through the production schedule for the week.
