If you come down to G.I.D.C Estate in Naroda, you’ll find us at Plot No. 130/2. Rubmach Industries is inside Foundry Shed No. 6. It’s hot in here most of the time because of the nature of the work. The machines make a lot of noise and there’s usually a bit of dust in the air. We’ve got the heavy equipment set up on the floor and it’s been there for years. The floor is stained with oil and there’s scrap metal in the corners, but that’s a foundry for you. We start early before the sun gets too high because once it’s noon, the shed really heats up. Most of the guys have been working here a long time. We know the rhythm of the machines by heart now. Lunch is usually eaten sitting on crates near the back door where there’s a bit of a breeze. It’s hard work, and your hands stay dirty no matter how much you wash them. We don't have a front office with air conditioning or anything like that. Just the shed and the tools we use every day. Being in Naroda means we are surrounded by other shops doing the same kind of heavy lifting. It’s a tough environment but it’s where we belong. We just keep the production going and try to finish the orders on time before the truck arrives in the evening.
