Reliance Engineering Associate Ltd.,Mumbai is actually based in Mumbai, but we have this office at C-239 in the Bhavana Tenaments here in Ahmedabad. It’s located on the Vasna Barrage Road, right in the Vasna area. The office is basically a converted tenement, so it feels more like a home than a sterile workplace. We have our desks set up in the main rooms, and the back area is where we keep all the older files and supplies. Being on the Barrage Road means we see a lot of traffic passing by, but once you’re inside, it’s actually pretty quiet. We focus on engineering projects, and because we’re a small team here, everyone ends up doing a bit of everything. There’s no such thing as "not my job" in this office. We drink a lot of tea and spend our days looking at technical diagrams on our screens. Ahmedabad is a great city for this kind of work because there’s always something happening nearby. We don't use any big words to describe what we do; we just solve the engineering problems that our clients bring to us. Sometimes the power goes out for a few minutes and we all just sit and chat until it comes back on. It’s a very normal, human way to work, and we wouldn't want it any other way.
