Real Engineering

Real Engineering is over at Godown No-23 in GIDC Vatva. You can find us right opposite the big water tank, which is the easiest way to explain where we are. We are also near Kiri Dyes Phase II, so it’s a very industrial part of town. The godown is where we keep all our tools and the heavy parts we work on. It’s a lot of metal, grease, and the sound of welding or grinding. We don’t have a fancy showroom. Most people just come straight to the workshop floor to talk about what they need fixed or built. The floor is usually stained with oil, and there are bits of scrap metal in the corners. We spend our days mostly in work clothes, getting our hands dirty. It gets hot in the afternoons, but we keep the fans going and just push through. We usually have some tea around four o'clock and talk about the jobs we have left for the week. It is a simple life of fixing things and making sure the engineering work is solid. We don’t use big words to describe what we do. If a machine is broken, we try to fix it. If someone needs a part, we see if we can make it. It’s just us and our tools in this godown. We’ve been here a while and the water tank across the road is a familiar sight every morning when we open the gates.
