R. R. Textile Udyog

We are located in the Akshat Complex, over in Mithakali. Specifically, we’re at 391-2. It’s a busy part of town with a lot of shops and offices crammed together. R. R. Textile Udyog is where we handle all our fabric and garment work. If you walk into our unit, you’ll see stacks of cloth everywhere—different colors, different weights, and rolls of thread on the shelves. It’s a bit of a maze sometimes. The light coming through the windows isn't the best, so we’ve got some bright lamps over the cutting tables. The smell of new fabric is the first thing you notice when you walk in. We spend a lot of time checking the quality of the weaves and making sure the dyes look right. It’s a lot of manual work, and your back usually starts to ache by the end of the day from leaning over the tables. We’ve got a couple of old sewing machines that make a specific clicking sound we’ve all grown used to. Most of the people who work here have been in the textile trade their whole lives, so they can tell the quality of a piece of cotton just by feeling it. We don’t do much advertising; most of our work comes from people who know us in the neighborhood. We just try to keep the quality decent and stay on top of the orders that come through each week.
