Pradip Engineering Works

Our shop is at Kinarivala House, on the first floor. It's right opposite the K. P. Boarding in Gulbai Tekra. Ellisbridge is a busy area, and there's always noise from the street coming through the windows. Pradip Engineering Works has been around this part of town for a long time. We do a lot of small-scale engineering jobs. Sometimes it’s fixing a broken part for a machine, other times it’s making something from scratch based on a rough drawing someone brought in. We have a couple of lathes and some welding equipment. It’s dusty work. There’s always metal shavings on the floor, no matter how much we sweep. We don't have a big office. Just a desk tucked in the corner where we keep the bills and the phone. Most of the people we work for are local factory owners or guys who need something fixed for their small businesses. We don't do big fancy presentations. We just look at the job, tell them how much it will cost, and how long it will take. Sometimes a job is harder than it looks, and we stay late to get it right. We don't like letting people down. It’s a small team, just a few of us who know our way around tools. We enjoy the work, even when it’s hot and the fans aren't doing much. It’s just how things are here. We keep a box of old parts just in case someone needs something rare. The tea we get from the stall outside is usually too sweet.
