If you walk into our shed at Plot No. 1404 in Vatva GIDC, the first thing you’ll notice is the smell of grease and the sound of machines running. We are Safex Engineers Pvt. Ltd., but most of us just call it the workshop. We’ve been based in Phase-3 for a long time. It isn't a glamorous place, but it works for what we need to do. The floor is usually covered in some kind of metal shavings or parts waiting to be packed up. We started small and just kind of stayed focused on the engineering side of things. There’s about twenty of us here on a normal shift. Some have been here since the early days when the roads in Vatva weren't even paved properly. We don't spend money on fancy signs or advertising because most people who need us already know where the plot is located. Sometimes the power goes out or a machine breaks down, and we all have to pitch in to fix it. It's just part of the job. We don’t have a big HR department or a PR person to tell our story. We just make parts and ship them out to whoever ordered them. It's a simple way to run a business, but it keeps the lights on and the families fed. We take our lunches together under the shade when it gets too hot inside the building. That is basically our daily life here in the GIDC.
