N R Bricks

Our yard is part of the Laxmi Complex on Highway Road in Sabarmati. We are right near the Agrawal petrol pump, which is a good landmark because the dust from the road makes it hard to see our sign sometimes. It’s a very dusty job, working with bricks all day. Your hands stay red from the clay and the grit gets into your clothes. We don't have an office with air conditioning. We mostly stay outside near the stacks or under a small tin roof when the sun is too hot. There’s always a truck coming or going, and the sound of the highway is constant. We don’t do any fancy advertising. The bricks are right there for anyone to see. We spend our time counting out loads and making sure the quality is what it should be for a standard build. It’s hard, physical labor and we don't try to make it sound like anything else. We see a lot of truck drivers who stop for gas next door and then come over to ask about prices. We’ve been in Sabarmati for years and we’ve seen the highway get wider and the traffic get faster. But bricks are still bricks. People need them for walls and houses, and we are here to provide them. It’s a simple trade that keeps us busy from sunrise to sunset.
