Ambica Bricks Factory

Ambica Bricks Factory is tucked away in Hira-Ba-Ni-Khadki, over in the Dev Chakla area of Khokhra. It is a very old neighborhood, and the streets are quite narrow, so getting the big loads moved in and out takes a bit of skill and a lot of patience. We have been working here for a while, and the place has a history to it that you can feel. It’s not like those big modern factories you see on the highway. Everything here is done in a very traditional way. We deal with the red clay and the heat every single day. The dust settles on the rooftops nearby, and the neighbors are all used to the activity. We don't have a marketing team or anyone like that. Usually, it's just one of us sitting by the entrance, waiting for a customer to walk in or a driver to pull up. We spend a lot of time just talking about the quality of the latest batch. Some batches come out darker than others, and we have to sort them by hand. It’s a lot of physical labor, and by the end of the day, we are exhausted. But there's something good about seeing a pile of bricks turn into a wall somewhere else in the city. We keep the paperwork simple and the prices are based on whatever the cost of coal is that month. It’s a small, honest operation in a busy part of town, and we just keep it moving one brick at a time.
