Mahadev Traders

We are over at Thakor Vaa Naka in Madhupura Chowk. This is a very old and busy part of the city, and our shop is right in the middle of it all. We deal with various goods and there is always something being moved in or out. The front of the place is usually crowded with sacks or boxes depending on what arrived that morning. We have a small desk in the back where we keep the accounts and handle the bills. It’s a dusty place because of all the items we handle, but that’s just how it is in trading. There’s a lot of shouting and talking from the market outside, and we are constantly greeting people who walk by. We don't have any air conditioning, just a couple of ceiling fans that spin all day. The floor is made of old stone and it’s seen a lot of wear over the years. We start work very early when the trucks arrive and often don't finish until the sun is well down. It’s a tough, physical job, but we are used to it. The tea man comes around twice a day, and that’s when we usually take a short break to sit on the crates and talk. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living in a neighborhood that never seems to stop moving. We have been here for years and know all the other shopkeepers.
