You’ll find KHS Machinery Pvt. Ltd. right near the Hirapur Chowkadi on the Vatva-Ahmedabad Highway. Being so close to the highway means we hear the trucks rolling by all day long. It’s a convenient spot for moving the big machinery we work on, even if it is a bit loud. Our space is basically a large shed with some office rooms built into the side. Inside, it’s all about the machines. We have parts laid out on tables and heavy components sitting on pallets. Most of the guys here have been working with machines their whole lives, so they know the sounds of a motor that’s not running right just by listening. We don’t really do formal presentations or anything like that. When a customer comes by, we just show them what’s on the floor at that moment. It can get a bit disorganized when we have three or four projects going at once, but we always know which bolt goes where. The office has a few computers, but we mostly use them for the basic stuff like billing and taxes. Most of the real decisions happen while standing around a piece of equipment with a wrench in hand. It’s a dusty place because of the highway traffic, but we don't mind much. We just focus on putting things together correctly and getting them shipped out. It's a straightforward way to make a living, and we’ve been doing it this way for years.
