Vatva GIDC is a massive place, and finding Plot No. 4908 in Phase 4 can be tricky if you don’t know the water tank landmark nearby. We are located right behind the Indo German Tool Room. At Jay Yogeshwar Ice Products, the main thing we do is make ice. It’s heavy work, moving big blocks around and dealing with the cooling machinery. The factory floor is usually wet, and it’s always a bit loud because of the large systems running all day. We don't have an office that looks like a showroom; it’s a working industrial site through and through. People come by with their trucks to load up, and we spend the day making sure the production doesn't stop for any reason. In the summer, it gets incredibly busy and the heat outside makes the cold inside the plant feel even sharper. We’ve got a small crew and everyone knows what they have to do. There isn't much room for standing around or talking. The water tank nearby is how most people find us when they get lost in the maze of GIDC streets. We’ve been at this plot for a long time now. It’s just about keeping the machines maintained and the water supply steady so we don't run dry. Sometimes things break down and we have to fix them on the fly with whatever tools are handy. It's a grit-and-grind type of business. We just make the ice and get it out the door.
