J Pack Engineers Pvt. Ltd. is out at No. 32 in the Devraj Industrial Park, on the Pirana-Piplaj Road. It is a bit of a drive to get out here, away from the main city center. The industrial park is quite big, and you see a lot of heavy vehicles moving in and out all day. Our building is a large shed-like structure where we keep all the engineering equipment and the packaging machines we work on. It can get quite noisy when everything is running at once. We have a small office section partitioned off with glass, but you can still feel the vibrations from the floor. The air always feels a bit heavy with the smell of grease and metal. Most of us wear overalls because it is impossible to stay clean in a place like this. We usually start our shift early to beat the worst of the heat. By mid-afternoon, it can get quite stuffy inside. We have a big rolling door that we keep open to let some air in, though it also lets in the dust from the road. Lunch is a quick affair, usually eaten while sitting on some of the wooden crates. We do not spend money on fancy decorations or expensive office furniture. Everything here is built for use. It is a hardworking environment where the main goal is to keep the machines in good shape and meet the daily targets we set for ourselves.
