Gujarat Iron Works

Gujarat Iron Works is located over at D/2-1141 on Gheekanta Road. It is quite close to the Panch Bhai’s Pole Dhal, which is a landmark most locals are familiar with. The area stays pretty crowded throughout the day. Our space isn't very large, but we manage to fit everything we need inside. There’s a lot of heavy lifting and the smell of iron is always in the air. We don’t have any air conditioning, so it gets pretty warm in the afternoons, especially during the summer months. We just open the windows and keep moving. The floor is usually covered in filings and bits of metal that we sweep up at the end of the shift. It is a bit of a climb or a walk depending on where you park, but that’s just how Gheekanta Road is. We’ve known the neighbors for years, and we all kind of look out for each other’s shops. There is no receptionist or fancy waiting area here. If you come by, you’ll likely see us right in the middle of a job. We handle the materials as they come in and try to stay organized, though it doesn't always look that way. It’s a practical setup for the kind of work we do. We don't spend much time worrying about the decor. The focus is just on the iron and the tools we use every single day. We are just local people doing our job.
