Out in Phase-4 at Plot No. C-1-4503, the days usually start with the sound of the shutters rolling up. It’s a typical industrial plot where the concrete is stained and the air smells like coolant and burnt metal. We’ve set things up so we have the machines on one side and a small corner for the paperwork on the other. It’s not the most organized place in the world, but we can usually find the right wrench or gauge when we need it. We spend a lot of our time standing at the benches, working on various parts that need fixing or fabricating. There’s no air conditioning, so we rely on the big doors being open to get a breeze. When the wind blows, it brings in a bit of dust from the road, but that’s just part of being in an industrial zone. We take our breaks sitting on plastic stools, usually talking about the work or whatever is going on in the neighborhood. We don’t have a website that we update or a salesperson in a suit. Most of our work comes from people who know us and just drop by with a sketch. We do our best to get the jobs done properly without taking too long. It’s a simple life, really, just keeping the machines running and making sure the work is decent. Every day is pretty much the same, and we like it that way.
