Kailas Engineering

Kailas Engineering has been in the Sutaria Building for quite a while now. We are at 800/5 on Dariapur Road, which is right near the Teen Batti Lunsawad area. It’s a busy part of town, and you can hear the metal clanging from our workshop long before you see the door. We handle a lot of heavy stuff, mostly iron and steel parts that need cutting or shaping. The floor is usually covered in metal shavings and oil, so you have to watch where you step. It’s an old building, but it stays relatively cool because of the high ceilings and thick walls. We have these big machines that have been running since my uncle’s time, and they still work better than some of the new ones. People from the neighborhood bring in broken gate hinges or ask us to make specific bolts that they can't find in the hardware stores. We don't have a website or anything like that; people usually just find us by word of mouth or by following the sound of the lathe. It gets quite dusty during the dry months, and we spend a lot of time cleaning the equipment so it doesn't jam up. There is a small tea stall just down the road where we go when we need a break from the noise. We just focus on the work in front of us and try to get the measurements right every time.
