Jagdish Engineering Works

If you look across from Bajrang Ashram in Thakkarbapa Nagar, you will find us tucked away in units one and three of the Harsiddh Estate. Being right on National Highway Number 8 means there is always a lot of dust and the sound of trucks passing by at all hours. We have been operating Jagdish Engineering Works from this Bapunagar corner for a long time now. The workspace is filled with old lathes and tools that have seen better days, but they still work fine for what we need to do. It’s a bit cramped inside with all the raw metal and finished parts stacked up near the entrance. Most of us have been working here together for years, so we don't need to say much to get the day started. We just show up, have some tea, and get to the machining. It’s not the cleanest environment, but it’s an engineering shop, so that’s expected. Sometimes the electricity acts up or a machine needs a new belt, and we just handle it as it comes. Ahmedabad can get incredibly hot in the summer, making the shed feel like an oven, but we keep the fans going and stay on schedule. It is a simple life of making parts and making sure the shop stays running. No big corporate meetings here, just us and the work. We usually shut the big front doors by six in the evening and head home. Just another day in Thakkarbapa Nagar.
