We have been here at Plot No. 1476 on Gandhi Road for a long time now. Being so close to the Kalupur Railway Station means there is always noise and people moving around outside our door. Sometimes the trains are so loud we have to pause our conversations for a second. Our shop is full of electrical parts, wires, and motors. It’s not the neatest place you’ll ever see, but we know where every single nut and bolt is kept. Most days start early before the sun gets too high. We open up, sweep the front, and get the tea started. Customers come in looking for specific parts for their machines or homes. Usually, they are in a hurry because of the station nearby. We don’t do much fancy stuff here. It’s just us working with our hands and keeping things running. The shelves are a bit dusty because of the road traffic, but the tools stay clean. We spend a lot of time talking to the same local people who have been coming to us for years. There isn't a big team, just a few of us who have learned the trade over a long period. We don't have a big office or anything like that. Just a desk with a lot of papers and the smell of grease and copper. It’s a basic life but it keeps us busy from morning till the evening when the station lights come on and everyone goes home.
