Down on Road No.14 in the Kathwada Gidc area, you’ll find us at Plot No.520. Being in a GIDC means we are surrounded by other workshops and factories, so there is always a lot of noise and movement on the street. AJAN India is situated in a fairly large plot, which is good because we need the space for the stuff we work on. The morning starts with opening up the big metal gates and getting the lights turned on. It takes a while for the place to really get going. We have a lot of heavy equipment that needs regular maintenance, so someone is usually poking around with a wrench or an oil can at any given time. The floor is concrete and has some cracks here and there from years of heavy loads. We don't spend much time worrying about how the place looks to outsiders. It’s a working environment, so as long as the tools are where they should be and the machines are running, we’re happy. We get a fair amount of dust blowing in from the road, especially when it’s dry out. Lunchtime is usually the only quiet part of the day when everyone goes to grab a bite or sits under the shade of the awning for a bit. Then it’s back to it until the sun goes down. It’s a long day sometimes, but that’s the nature of the work we do out here.
