Spaceseeds Farmer Producer Company Limited is based in a village called Nagla, which is in the Baharwati area near Kiraoli. We are not too far from Agra. Chhiddha Singh is the one who looks after the main office, which is really just a room in his house. The name sounds a bit modern, but we are just regular farmers. We grow what the soil in Agra allows us to. Around here, you will see mostly wheat or mustard depending on the time of year. We started this company because it is hard for a single farmer to get a good price alone. When we are together, we can handle things better. Most of our days are spent checking on the crops or talking to the laborers. The office has a few chairs and a table where we keep our registers. It is usually busy with people coming in to talk about their problems or to see if the seeds have arrived yet. We do not use any complicated business words. We just talk about the land and the water and the market. Sometimes the electricity goes out for hours, so we just sit outside and wait it out. It is a slow life in some ways, but very fast when it is harvest time. We all know each other well in Kiraoli.
