Moti Ganj is a busy place in Agra. Our shop, number 125, is right in the middle of all that activity. There are always rickshaws and carts moving past the front door. It gets quite loud with all the shouting and wheels on the road. We deal with a lot of bulk items here. You will see stacks of sacks piled up nearly to the ceiling. It is a lot of lifting and moving every single day. We don't have much space for walking around. Usually, there is a stray dog sitting near the entrance in the shade. We don't mind him as long as he stays out of the way. The sun hits the front of the shop in the afternoon, making it very warm inside. We drink a lot of water and keep the fan on high. Most of our day is spent talking to suppliers or checking the weight of the goods on the scale. It is a practical business. We don't have a lot of time for decoration or making things look pretty. The floor is concrete and has some cracks from years of heavy bags being dropped. People come here because they know we have been in Moti Ganj for a long time. It is not a place for browsing; it is a place for getting what you need and moving on. We close up when the sun goes down and the market starts to empty out. Tomorrow we do it again.
