Girraj Brick Field

Girraj Brick Field is over near Agra Wali Chungi in the Raja Chera part of Dolpur. It is a big open space where we make and dry our bricks before they go to the kiln. The location is pretty easy to find if you know where the Chungi is on the edge of town. We have been working the soil here for many years. Making bricks is all about the quality of the mud and the heat of the fire we use. We do not use any fancy machines that do all the work for us; it is still mostly done by hand and by shovel. The sun in Dolpur can be quite strong, so we have to be careful with our timing so we don't get too exhausted. We are not corporate people with suits and ties. We wear work clothes that get stained with red clay almost immediately every morning. We do not have any fancy "About Us" pages written by professional marketing people. This is just us telling you where we are and what we do for a living. We supply bricks for local houses and buildings in the Raja Chera area. It is a practical business for practical people. Sometimes the trucks get stuck in the soft dirt if it rains too much, which is always a headache for everyone involved. But most of the time, things run okay and we keep moving. We just keep stacking and firing and hoping for good weather.
