Pitambra Brick Field

Our place, Pitambra Brick Field, is located at 68, Mutawai, right off the Fatehabad Road. It’s a large open area where we spend the whole day moving bricks around. The road outside is always busy with traffic going toward the city, but we stay focused on the work inside the gates. Making bricks is hard on the hands and the back, but it's what we do. We have rows and rows of raw bricks drying in the sun before they go into the fire. The weather really dictates how our week is going to go. If a storm rolls in unexpectedly, we have to scramble to cover everything up. My brother handles the accounts in a small shed we built near the entrance. Most of the time, I am out with the workers making sure the bricks look right. We aren't doing anything revolutionary here, just the same brick-making process that has worked for years. People stop by in their trucks to pick up loads for their houses or walls. We keep some water jars under the shade for everyone because it gets very hot in the afternoons in Mutawai. It is a simple life on Fatehabad Road, just working with the soil and seeing the stacks go up and down. We don't have fancy titles or a polished image, just lots of red dust and hard work every day.
