We stay busy over here at H. No. 1-29 in Kothapally village, right in the Jaipur mandir district. The work we do is mostly about moving dirt and clearing land. It is heavy work and we are usually covered in some amount of red soil by the end of the day. We have the machines parked near the house when they are not out at a site. Most of the time, we are called to level a piece of ground for a new building or to dig out a space for a foundation. It is noisy and there is always a lot of vibration when the engines are running full speed. We have to check the oil and the tracks every morning to make sure nothing breaks down in the middle of a job. The sun hits hard out in the open fields around Kothapally, so we wear hats and carry big water bottles to stay hydrated. It is not the kind of job where you stay clean or sit in an air-conditioned room. We deal with rocks, mud, and uneven ground all through the week. Sometimes a job takes longer if the soil is packed too tight or if it rains and everything turns into a mess. We just take it day by day, moving from one plot to another as people need us. It is honest work that keeps us outdoors and active from sunrise until it gets too dark to see the trenches clearly.
