Arti Engineering Works

Arti Engineering Works has been operating out of Plot No. A-388-2 in the Gidc Ind. Estate for quite some time now. If you walk inside, the first thing you notice is the smell of machine oil and the steady hum of the lathes. It’s not a very big space but we make use of every square inch of the floor. Tools are hanging on the walls and there’s usually a project or two sitting on the central workbench in various stages of being finished. We don’t spend much time on decorations or making things look pretty because that’s not what we’re here for. We just focus on the mechanical stuff and making sure the dimensions are right on whatever we are turning or welding that day. The light coming through the high windows is usually enough during the day but it gets a bit dim in the corners. Our neighbors in the estate are all doing similar work so there is always the sound of hammers or engines in the background. We have an old desk where we keep the ledger and the phone calls come in pretty regular. Sometimes we have to move heavy parts around using the manual hoist and that takes a bit of time. It’s just a regular engineering shop where we put in our hours and head home when the sun goes down. Nothing more, nothing less at the plot.
