Our spot is at Plot No. 64/A, right in the first phase of GIDC, Vatva. If you walk past Jasubhai Engineering Pvt. Ltd. in the morning, you will see the shutters going up and the lights flickering on one by one. It is an old building, but it works for what we need. The desks are crowded with papers and old parts that nobody wants to throw away just yet. We have a small corner where we keep the kettle for tea, and that is probably the most used part of the whole office. The road outside can get pretty muddy when it rains, making it a bit of a mess to get inside. Most of our days are spent fixing things or trying to figure out why a machine stopped working. It is not quiet here at all. There is always the hum of the fans and the sound of someone hammering something in the back. We do not have a big fancy lobby or anything like that. Just a door and a place to work. Some of the guys have been here since they were young, and now they are the ones teaching the new kids how to handle the tools. It is a steady life. We see the same faces every day in the industrial estate, and we all just try to get through the list of tasks before it gets too dark to see clearly.
