Down here at F-3 in the Dsidc area of Nangloi, things stay pretty busy. Rohtak Road is always roaring with trucks and buses passing by. Our building is tucked away in the industrial estate where we handle all our engineering work for the footwear industry. It’s not the cleanest place, but it’s where the actual work happens. You’ll find tools scattered on benches and parts waiting to be fixed or assembled. Most of us here have grease on our hands by noon. We don’t really have a big reception or a fancy sign. People usually just walk into the main door and find someone. The electricity can be a bit patchy in this part of Nangloi, so we have to plan our work around that. It’s a lot of manual work, making sure the machines we build or fix are ready for the shoe factories. We drink a lot of tea to keep going through the afternoon slump. Most of the staff comes from the surrounding residential blocks, so there is a lot of talk about local things while we work. We don't have a lot of rules about how things look, as long as the engineering is solid. It’s a practical place for practical people. Sometimes the monsoon makes the roads outside a mess, but we still show up and do what needs doing at Toe Tech.
